Sh. Ram Nath Kapoor a great philanthropist laid the foundation of Sewa Devi S.D. College,Tarn Taran on October 14th, 2000 a premier co-educational institute which caters to the needs of students who earlier has to go to other places to pursue higher education in different streams. At present, Mr. Sardari Lal Kapoor is the President of the College.
A small Sapling planted by Sh. Ram Nath Kapoor in the year 2000 has taken the form of a big banyan tree within a brief span of just seven years where students are getting higher education. The infrastructure of the college caters well to the modern demands and technique of education ground floor of the college consists of a beautiful well-stocked Libraray, Computer Laboratory, general office, Management Room, etc. There are ten spacious class rooms on the first floor where the class are held. The academic session for 2005-2006 has been completed successfully and the excellent results have brought laurels to our college will gain more heights and find itself a place among well established and well managed colleges of not only Punjab but whole nation.
To fulfill the dream of Lt. Sh. Ram Nath Kapoor and following the ideals set by him the Sanatam Dharam Management Charitable Trust has expanded the Sewa Devi S.D. Institution. It has now various branches. To this huge tree; Sewa Devi S.D College, 'Sewa Devi S.D. I.T.I; and 'Sewa Devi S.D. College of Education' serve as strong branches.
It was on Februray 2nd, 2005 that the Punjab Government for B.Ed College allotted the NOC numbered 14/124,2004-3 Edu. 1/2222.
Sewa Devi S.D College of Education underwent NCTE inspection and got conditional recognition numbered F.No. NRC/NCTE/F7/PB-305/2006/3003 on July 25th, 2006.
The final step was to receive affiliation from a recognized university and our college received the same from Guru Nanak University. The affiliation number is 3374/colleges dated May 11, 2007.
The Management has adopted the necesssary measures to provide education to the 'would be teachers' in the best possible manner. The college building is surrounded by hish-green atmosphere ahich adds to the beauty of the college.
The infrastructure is in accordance with the modern day techniques to educate the would be educators. The ground floor consists of Principal Office, Guest Room, Psychology Laboratory, Language Laboratory, Education Technology Lab, Computer Lab, Sports Rooms, Administration Office and a well-stocked library. The libraray has been
named as Pt. San Ram Salwan Libraray.
Our college also provides hostel facility to the girls students who come from far off places to receive education in our premier institution. 'Mata Kesar Devi Salwan Girld Hostel' is modern day hostel that meets the needs of the students well.
Sewa Devi S.D. College of College of Education is headed by Dr.(Mrs.) Satinderpal Kaur Gill, an experienced and well qualified educationist. She is Sixteen years experience of educational have her as the first Principal of our college. We know
that her experience, knowledge expertise and guidance will enable us to achieve greek heights.
